Hello

Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Karla, I am down to earth, friendly and have often been told I have a calming nature. I have passion for helping others, which is what first drew me to counselling. I believe that we all have the power to overcome the challenges in our lives, when we are nurtured, supported and encouraged. This is what I set out to offer my clients.

How I can help

I work in a gentle and compassionate way, mainly from a person-centred approach. Taking my lead from you, the client, I accompany you on your counselling journey, offering kindness, respect, and a safe space to retreat to.

 

When we are going through difficult and confusing times, counselling can be a place to openly express our feelings without fear of judgement. It can help gain a deeper understanding of our situation and ourselves.  I will work with you to build a solid counselling relationship based on openness and trust. So, you have the confidence to share and explore your inner thoughts and emotions. Here are some examples of the things that I can help with:

Coming to terms with past experiences

Becoming more assertive, more able to set boundaries or make decisions

Building self esteem and confidence

Improving communication with others

Getting a deeper understanding of your situation or yourself

Growing your self awareness

Setting realistic goals/aims

We are all different, which is a beautiful thing and so it is important to find the path that is right for you. There are times when it is beneficial to explore other ways of working, so I also use some creative and CBT type techniques. Usually, I will suggest these if they feel appropriate to the work we are doing. As I am person centred, we will work together to decide what is best for you, based on your needs and what you feel comfortable with.

This is to ensure you can get the full benefit from your counselling sessions.
